Biography

Ben Bloor is the Organist of the London Oratory Church where he accompanies the professional adult choir for weekly Mass and Vespers and oversees the famous Downes/Walker organ. He combines this with a busy freelance concert career, and is much in demand as an accompanist and solo recitalist across the UK and internationally. From 2016-2025, he was School Organist at Westminster School, where he taught the organ and played for services in Westminster Abbey. Previously, he held organist positions at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle; New College, Oxford; and Derby, Rochester and Westminster Cathedrals. Ben has won prizes at several international interpretation competitions including Northern Ireland, St Albans, Boston and Canada. He holds a First-Class Honours degree in Music from the University of Oxford, and held a Junior Fellowship at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Other achievements include being awarded the Limpus prize for the highest marks in the Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists examinations and the Worshipful Company of Musicians’ Silver Medal for his contribution to organ-playing. Ben’s debut solo organ CD, L’Orgue Grégorien, focussed entirely on organ music based on Gregorian chant was released in 2024 to critical acclaim. He also enjoys uploading videos of organ repertoire to his Youtube channel – Ben Bloor Organist.

In addition, Ben is a keen composer, having twice won the Blackburn Cathedral Composition Competition. His music has been published by Beauty in Sound and the RSCM, and performed in venues such as Westminster Abbey.
